How to boost your home’s appeal to sell

How to make your home an attractive option for potential buyers featured image

As you start the home selling process, you may be wondering about ways to increase the appeal of your property. As the saying goes, first impressions go a long way so making sure your house is attractive to potential buyers is pivotal.

Invest in home improvement projects

Before listing your house, consider investing money in home improvement projects. Home improvement projects can beautify your home and add value to the property.

For example, you could remodel your deck with new wood and paint. It’s estimated that a deck remodel alone can recoup over 106 percent of the cost needed to finish the project. So, not only has the appeal of your home increased, you could possibly make an additional profit after the home is sold.

Home improvement projects don’t have to be too extensive or expensive to make an impact. Consider projects like repainting the exterior of the house, adding new bathroom lightning fixtures, floor upgrades and more.

Declutter the space

A clean space is a welcoming space. Decluttering your home clears away visual clutter and allows potential homebuyers to see the space more clearly.

This can include putting away clothing items, old toys, hobby collections and additional personal items. In doing so, the space becomes neater and depersonalized which leaves room for buyers to envision their life within the home.

Boost curb appeal

Curb appeal is the exterior attractiveness of a property which can include the home itself, the yard, driveway and the area around the property.

The perceived worth of your home can increase around 5 to 10 percent when you boost the curb appeal of the property. You can achieve this by investing in landscaping, driveway repair and other home exterior projects.

When listing your home, you may feel overwhelmed at times with everything that needs to be done. Working with your real estate agent can help to simplify this process and can help you identify ways to make your home more attractive to potential buyers.
